Please join us in a service celebrating Guy’s life on Monday, July 18 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of the Apostles in Sewanee. ALL CLERGY are invited to vest (alb & white stole) and process. We lost a great man. Dr. Guy Lytle was indeed a great man and a friend. Yes, Dr. Lytle is no longer with us. I spoke to his wife, Marie, a couple of hours ago. Very sad news indeed.
The Lytles opened their heart and their home to me (and my family) the three years we were at Sewanee – and continuing. The Lytle home was literally an oasis for those of us who identified openly as conservatives. Yes, an oasis in more than one sense: the wet bar was always open and wet. The wine always flowed – and very good wines they were, indeed.
Unfortunately, I will not make it to the service tomorrow. But our daughter will drive to Sewanee from Nashville tomorrow to represent the family at the service.
God willing, my wife and I would see Marie and the daughters when we visit TN next month.
May the Soul of Guy Lytle rest in the Perfect Peace of the Lord. Amen.
